Sights and Sounds - A Beginning

When I am out in the world, taking photos or just walking about, I see through my lens (with or without the camera in hand). But I also hear. I wanted to try to share some of that view as well. Here is a sample of an obvious sight and sound pairing. Some may not be so obvious.

Enjoying the sun ...

Joy in the moments

These three photos were from the same day. They are quite representative of what I like to do most. Find the sunlight, put the flower between me and the sun, and explore the angles.

Having the camera in my hand with flowers and sunlight present gives me joy. Seeing the results reminds me of the moment.

Picture Perfect

It was a picture perfect day.

We went to Cathedral Grove, the old growth forest about a half hour away.
It was raining just hard enough that it was wise to leave my camera in the car.
It was green and fresh and energizing.
It was gorgeous.
And wet and muddy.
But it was the perfect spot.

Driving home along Cameron Lake, the wind picked up.
A Qualicum wind was developing.
The waves were cresting. The trees were blowing.
And it was still raining.

Driving down the hill back to our home, the sun started to shine.
Though it was still raining.
And then, you guessed it. A perfect rainbow.
Full. From one end to the other. And huge.

A picture perfect day with no pictures to share.

But a beautiful memory.
And a feeling of contentment with our chosen home.

I'm feeling orange today

A short ode to orange

I dare you to feel sad
In the presence of orange

All colours are found in nature. Just have a look around at the other pages on this website.
But we associate green with nature more than other colours.
It is fresh. It is the colour of new growth. It is alive.

We went for a walk today in the forest near our home. Green was growing on top of green.
Sprouts were sprouting everywhere. The green was intense and fresh.
It was alive.
And it made me feel alive.

That is a feeling to be celebrated.

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." Albert Einstein

When I looked at this photo, I said "delicious." Something about the soft white just seemed, well, delicious.

While taking the photo, I was immersed in the gentleness of the white petals, finding the right angle and light.

It makes me very happy when I have flowers and my camera and natural light streaming in.
It is like meditation. Nothing worries me. Nothing bothers me. I don't have a care in the world.

A sense of calm

A taste of life
A feeling of soft
A vision of love
A smell of beauty
A sound of quiet

A celebration of gentleness
